    Barr Beacon SCITT is an experienced, dedicated and ambitious provider of Initial Teacher Training with a thriving partnership of secondary and primary schools in the West Midlands and Warwickshire. We aim to develop the very best classroom practitioners who will go on to inspire, influence and shape the lives of future generations for years to come. This aim underpins everything about our training programme and we’re incredibly proud of what we do. Our aim is to develop teachers who are:

    • skilled and inspirational specialists;
    • confident and reflective practitioners;
    • effective communicators who can work in partnership;
    • informed intellectuals who promote a real love of learning;
    • resilient professionals able to demonstrate high standards of personal conduct.

    Supporting, developing and challenging: themselves as a team; leaders; teachers; teaching assistants, and non-teaching support staff, to grow and flourish using research-informed practice, is deeply embedded in their culture and school ethos.

    They thrive on collaboration and partnerships with other schools; curriculum hubs; professional development partners and external experts, to bring the very best in teacher education to our area.

    Ryders Hayes School is renowned for supporting, developing and challenging all colleagues to grow and flourish using research-informed practice. The primary partnership consists of a partnership of local good and outstanding schools, which creates a strong and diverse partnership.

    Throughout all phases of the course, you will have a personalised timetable that allows you to develop and excel in the necessary skills to become a teacher to students of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions. Trainees’ development is continually supported by the work of experienced teachers, mentors and leaders.

    We firmly believe that the most effective teachers are reflective teachers. You will reflect on your practice throughout the course with subject mentors, classroom teachers and course leaders. In addition, you will complete termly reviews and have termly review meetings to critically analyse your progress and practice and set appropriate targets for your emerging needs. You will collect evidence throughout the year to meet all of the Teachers’ Standards and present this in the form of a presentation and commentary at the end of the year. You will track your journey through the teacher training year by means of your Trainee Portfolio. You will complete assignments towards your PGCE qualification.
