Religious Education (RE)
VISION:
To deepen children’s understanding of world religions and cultures and create positive attitudes towards them.
PRINCIPLES:
EXPLORE: Learn about a range of religious activities and values within different religions.
DEVELOP: Give opportunities for children to explain and share their ideas and opinions.
LINK: Notice and understand the similarities and differences between various religions.
So that all children are:
Resourceful and engaged in purposeful play using key vocabulary and asking questions.
Resilient when things go wrong (as they do!).
Reciprocal and can share their ideas by listening and explaining.
Reflective and use their knowledge and skills to make links with other areas.
AWE:
Children grow up noticing different religions; different religious ceremonies; form their own opinions based on their understanding; notice how religion is a part of the world we live in and can engage in meaningful discussion about different religions- showing tolerance and a genuine interest.
